Everyone is talking about whether AI can find the right information. I think we’re asking the wrong question.

As organizations rush to deploy AI, we’ve spent a lot of time discussing models, infrastructure, security, and governance. But there is another issue that has been central to records and information governance for decades: Can AI determine whether the information it found is actually the organization’s authoritative record? In this article, I explore why authority is established through governance, not discovered by algorithms, and why that distinction may be one of the most overlooked aspects of AI readiness.
